Fun is a Great Fit for Summer

Oh, dear, sweet summer. So many options for fun, so little time to squeeze it all in. Each August, I start to get this feeling of anxiety that I like to call “summer panic”. One day, I just wake up and realize that summer is almost over and we need to squeeze as much fun into those last few weeks as we can. My kids love it because we are constantly on the run, doing extra fun things.

After this crazy cold winter, I sort of already have the summer panic. It is just starting to look and feel like summer and I am worried that it will all go by way too fast.

What are your favorite things to do during the summer? Travel up north to your cabin? Go to a Twins game or St Paul Saints game? The Minnesota Fair? The Minnesota Zoo? My family really enjoys spending time around Lake Calhoun, Harriet and Isles. We have a favorite book store called Wild Rumpus that is close to Lake Harriet. We visit the book store (live animals like chickens and cats roam the store) and then we walk down the street for an ice cream cone. It makes for the perfect summer day. We also like to randomly pick a lake off of the Twin Cities map (we definitely have plenty to choose from) and go investigate it.

I think a large part of my love for summer is the adventure (well, and the warm weather). We can spend hours outside in the summer, investigating nature or a new city and enjoy the warm breezes and the sunshine. As much as fun always fits in during summer, a great fit also makes for a fun summer. There is nothing worse than ending an adventure with blisters or sore feet. Good shoes (or sandals) that fit your feet are a blessing for long summer days on your feet. Are you fit for summer adventures? If not, I know a great little neighborhood shoe store that can hook you up. 🙂
